Présentation
This piece originates from a pastoral melody coming from the regions of Marche, Abruzzo Apennines, that the shepherds sang during the "transhumance", the periodic displacement of the herds. The original song has an antiphonal development, ie composed by questions and answers that were supposed between a shepherd and his beloved. The theme, in triple time, is first performed in full by the euphonium, and then taken up by the entire Orchestra, before starting a series of "changes" in both rhythm and melody. The ending is characterized by the overlapping of a small march to the pastoral song.
