III) • Description: L 'Arundo donax is a plant used for the manufacture of reeds, those small pieces of wood located at the end of many wind instruments. Once set in vibration by the air produced, the reed emits a sound controlled by the body of the instrument. The clarinet is one of those instruments and the relationship of the clarinetist with the reed is well known in the music world. The musician spends hours searching, retouching and growing-old the reeds in the right way as a good performance also depends on these factors. It is a race against time to get the right reed always at the right time; that reed able to make the clarinet play to its full extention from the lowest to the highest notes. In this composition, this piece of wood is put to the test echoing in the air all the qualities of the clarinet: extension, tone and agility •
