Giovanni Foddai was borne in Arbus, (Cagliari - Italy) in 1968. He began to study music at12 and attended the G.B. da Palestrina Conservatoire of Cagliari where graduated with full marks in oboe under the guidance of Simone Bensi. He studied both harmony and composition with Vittorio Montis and orchestral direction with Filippo Maria Caramazza. From 1990 to 1991 he conducted the Musical Band «S. Cecilia» of Villacidro; since 1991 he permanently conducts the Arbus’ «Ennio Porrino» Musical Band that won both national and international contest with. As an oboist he collaborates with the most important Sardinian groups as well as chamber music formations. His Danza Fiabesca (Fable Dance) for piano was prize-winning at the Composition International Contest of Povoletto (UD). Beside his directorial, instrumental and compositional activities he adds the didactic one by teaching music in Junior High Schools as well as musical theory and solmization in the regional courses of the Musical Band Association “Ennio Porrino” of Arbus.
