Stefano Martinotti was born in Milan (Italy) in 1965. He graduated in Violin, Viola, composition and orchestra direction at the Conservatoire G. Verdi of Milan, perfecting his studies in Assisi with Zoltan Pesko and Arpand Jòo, at the Academy of Music "Ottorino Respighi" in Rome with Ervin Acel Ferenc Nagy and in Vienna (Austria) with Julius Kalmar. Immediately after graduating in viola he joined the Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan, where he plays since 1987. Even his activities as a conductor and composer arise from his life immersed in the symphonic sound and practice of chamber music. In 2015, for the fourth time, one of his compositions, a piece commissioned by the ensemble of "The Percussionists of the Scala", will be performed during the season of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
His compositions, transcriptions and orchestrations have been performed at the Teatro La Fenice and at the Teatro Malibran in Venice, by I Solisti della Scala, I Pomeriggi Musicali, the Orchestra "Guido Cantelli , the Ensemble Epistrophé, Fiati Ensemble and other groups specialized in the performance of contemporary music and in countries such as Austria, Denmark, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland and Ukraine.
Stefano Martinotti was professor of courses in Film music soundtrack at the film school "Cinelife" in Milan.
