Rodrigues, Rui

Rui Rodrigues was born in 1988 and lives in a village called Óbidos – one-hour away from Lisbon, the capital
of Portugal.
He began his piano lessons with a private teacher when he was eight years old. Two years later he entered
in an official music school and he concluded the eighth and last level with the highest qualification.
He had already been in several master classes with the professors Vitaly Margulis, Luiz de Moura Castro,
Manuela Gouveira and Sofia Vinogradova. And he received several prizes in national and international
piano competitions.
In the composition area he won the ‘Concurso de Composição Hinos’ in 2003, the Special Young Composers
Prize in the ‘Banda Filarmónica Maestro Silva Dionísio’ Competition in 2004, the ‘General Firmino Miguel Competition’ organized by the Portuguese Army in 2005 and the “4th International Competition for Band Composition Romualdo Marenco”, Novi Ligure
– Italy, in 2006.
Nowadays, he is cursing Piano in ESMAE (Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo – Music and Show Arts High School) in Oporto with Professor Miguel Borges Coelho.
